01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
The rich aroma rising from the siphons on the counter fills this cosy space. On Hongo-dori in Honkomagome, Bunkyo City, Tojo is a traditional café where you can enjoy carefully prepared coffee and a quieter pace.
Tojo’s blend has a gentle character, with acidity, sweetness and bitterness in balance. There is also pleasure in exploring the distinct qualities of individual beans: Hawaii Kona, with pronounced acidity and a sweet aroma; fragrant Toraja; and Mandheling, known for its bold bitterness. The range of coffee drinks includes café cappuccino served with a cinnamon stick, Wiener coffee softened by cream, and café Cointreau with a hint of orange—options to suit different moods.
Toast makes an easygoing accompaniment to a coffee break. The offerings include pizza toast, whose savoury cheese and simple flavour complement the coffee, as well as tuna toast and hot sandwiches.
Settle in with quiet music and a well-made cup before or after a walk in Rikugien Garden, or during a pause in the day. Please note that payment is by cash only, so come prepared.
